Editing a post

I made a post yesterday, and I need to edit or remove it. How do I do that? Does a moderator need to do it?

Thank you!

I have - and you should have - low expectations concerning Apple changing a practice that is long-standing - edit for 15 minutes

There is no obvious way to contact them because they rarely NEED to be contacted. That having been said...

Thanks. Just to make sure I understand, are you saying there's no list of moderators like most message boards - or a general "moderator message box" in each area? The only contact method is the email address you posted?

Are moderators identified in their posts? No, I don't want to stalk 'em. ;-) Just trying to find a simple way of making contact if needed.

ChitlinsCC's post above details the ways you can in fact contact them.

It won't be a specific moderator, but you can contact them:

Either of those methods will get you in touch with a moderator that can help you out.

Seriously? So if you notice a typo after 15 minutes that would eliminate a search for the topic, or that causes a detail on the body to be incorrect you *can't* fix it?

That makes absolutely NO sense. Explain why. Does whoever runs the place want to laugh at those who aren't touch typists? Is someone afraid people would correct things the "management" can laugh at?

And "requires a moderator" is useless if you don't know who the moderators are! Even if you do, why should you have to talk to a moderator to fix YOUR OWN post? Does this mean moderators have free rein to alter any post they want - yet authors have to ask their *permission*?

Oh, my! What a fascinating power trip THAT is.

I can't think of a single reason for that rule to exist. What could possibly happen?

OH, and I almost forgot - You are saying newfolks or ones who don't post issues often - like me, who has been a Mac user for decades but hasn't run into many problems - *CAN'T "REPORT" OUR OWN POSTS?*

So - if a supposed "newbie" like me notices a problem in my own post - an error, or that not many others would notice the post because of the chosen community, or whatever - I CAN"T TALK TO ANYONE TO *GET* IT FIXED EITHER?

Again - explain why. It makes NO sense. None.

Honestly - I'm shocked.

None of us can explain why - we do not work for or get paid by Apple. If you will read the ToU linked to previously, it contains the answers as this site is owned by Apple and they get to make the rules.

It's not convoluted. People ask questions and volunteers answer as best they can. How hard is that?

As for the 15 minute rule: my guess is that it simply means that there is traceability in the event of legal challenges. I believe you'll find that any large corporation has a legal department that worries about such things. It also means that someone can't return and edit their post later for mischievous effect. If you want to correct something, just add to the thread. It's not too difficult. It's the largest such site on the internet and thousands manage to use it every day...

Moderators generally don't post anything. So nothing to identify.

Moderators or Hosts will edit the posts as they see fit, and as has been said you can contact them via the provided options directly. There is no need to contact a specific moderator. Any of the hosts can help you out as long as you point the to the thread or post you are wanting to change.

For the record I did not refuse to answer anything. I just missed the second part. No need for the attitude.

We don't work here, only volunteer our time to help others.
